I’ve no regrets training under Odunlade Adekola – Adenike Hamzat.
Budding actress, Adenike Hamzat, has said that she has no regrets joining the Abeokuta-based Odunlade Adekola Film Production. She told Sunday Scoop, “I have never regretted joining the OAFP family because my boss, Odunlade Adekola, made everything easy for me and the entire crew. The experience was amazing and very encouraging. I learnt a lot and I’m still learning from my boss. He is a great man and leader who wants his proteges to surpass him.”
On what stirred her interest in acting, Hamzat said, “I have always had the passion for acting. And to say it is inborn wouldn’t be an exaggeration. While growing up, I always mimicked the characters I watched in movies. I didn’t know that God was ordering my steps towards my career.”
Stating the highlights of her career, the actress stated, “I give all glory to God who has been my succour over the years. The journey has been very interesting, worthwhile and amazing. I thank God that I have been privileged to feature in a number of movies including Pepeye Meje (Seven Ducks) which launched me into the limelight and I have been enjoying the stardom I instantly gained from that movie. As for the challenges, I believe there is no venture in life that does not have its ups and downs. I have had my fair share of challenges, however little they were, and I have managed to remain cool and undistracted.”
Accounting at the National Open University also disagreed with the notion that most actresses were women of easy virtues. “I want to object to that notion, even though it is not peculiar to actresses. The case of actresses is more pronounced because people think that the roles we play in movies reflect our real lives. An actress who knows her onions would never submit to the sexual advances of any amorous producer or director in exchange for roles. However, I can only speak for myself. I am not a woman of easy virtue or that cheap to be conned into such mundane things.”FOLLOW US on
